What an amazing, yet very surreal feeling it was watching the twitter feed from ULearn14 and receiving a steady stream of congratulation tweets. I was so incredibly excited .... at last I could tell people!
I had received a phone call from John Fenaughty in the first week of the October school holidays and had to keep the news secret until it was announced at ULearn14. I was fizzing with excitement and the wait seemed like an eternity!
The journey began a few months earlier, when I was looking at options to further my study. I wanted to do something that would challenge and inspire me and this lead me to apply for the CORE eFellowship
The application was to be no longer than 500 words or 5 minutes of media, and there were five areas to cover:-
- - show evidence of your experience, reputation and potential in innovative teaching, or pedagogical leadership, in e-learning
- - clearly articulate the background and purpose of the intended inquiry, and any progress to date on following up these inquiry ideas
- - identify the potential for the proposed inquiry to produce significant change in effective and equitable teaching and learning
- - explain how the intended inquiry links to at least one of the future focussed themes outlined in Bolstad et al. 2012
- - show engagement or leadership in professional networks, and how this will be used to get the word out there about your inquiry.
That's a lot to cover in such a short time frame......so I decided to use videoscribe to create a multimedia presentation in which I could share my ideas. My BIG question...
I feel extremely fortunate to be one of the seven educators selected for a 2015 eFellowship, as it was open to teachers from early childhood, primary and secondary. It is an opportunity of a life time and one that will no doubt challenge my thinking, and help me grow as a professional. Let the journey begin!
