Balance

Last year my #oneword challenge was 'GROWTH'.
Participating in the 2016 National Aspiring Principals Programme was indeed a year full of opportunities to grow. I have developed a  range of leadership skills and learnt a lot about myself along the way. An online journal helped me to identify and critically reflect on my acts of leadership and was a key part of my leadership growth.

This year the word I have chosen is 'BALANCE'.
At the end of last year I began my postgraduate certificate in digital and collaborative learning. At the time it seemed like a good idea to begin working towards my Masters in Education, but after two years of study (Core efellowship in 2015 and NAPP in 2016) my energy and enthusiasm is starting to fade. In hindsight I probably should have taken a year off before beginning my postgraduate studies.

I need to work on getting some 'balance' back into my life.  I have been back on my mountain biking this holidays and plan to get back into running. With a young family, full time work and study thrown in on top, life became a little unbalanced last year.

After a relaxing holiday break and time completely away from work related tasks, I am feeling refreshed and ready to take on the challenge of finding a happy 'work / life balance'.
